April News and Thoughts
April 11, 2024
The old saying is "April showers bring May flowers." I have a question for you. What brings out April flowers like this Siberian iris? Winter cold weather? Does anyone out there have an answer?
My publisher is working through the many Solstice-published books for price reductions. As you can guess this is a tedious and time-consuming process. Not sure when mine will be reduced, what the sale prices will be, or how long the sale will last. I'll try checking on Amazon daily and let you know when I see a price change.
Have any of you checked out the Audible audiobook versions of my books on Amazon? If you have, I'd enjoy hearing what you think.
I haven't participated in any challenges recently as I've been focusing on Green Eyes & Dimples. Plus, none of them have interested me.
Lately, there's been a lot of focus and debate on artificial intelligence (AI) relative to writing. When given access to books, AI learns about story structure, so it can write books and help authors write. I've heard of lawsuits for copyright infringement because of the use of copyright-protected materials in the AI learning process. Interesting times. I believe, if AI wrote the entire story or a portion of the story, it must be identified as such on the title page or elsewhere in the book. I don't use AI to write any portion of my books.
The editing platform I use, AutoCrit, has incorporated AI into the capability of their platform. The AI acts as a tool to improve your writing through analysis. Their story analyzer identifies strengths and weaknesses in your writing and offers suggestions to improve your writing/story. It doesn't write any of your story for you. It can also give you story ideas. Or, you can enter an idea you already have but are stumped on how to proceed. It will suggest how you might develop a well-rounded story from your idea.
The software is amazing and helpful. I'm having fun playing with it after I enter my handwritten pages.
Green Eyes & Dimples is progressing. I want to stay focused on it, so I can get a contract by the middle or end of May, complete the editing in June, and have it for sale in time for the first of July. The timing would be fitting since the story begins with a Fourth of July event!
Keep reading and I'll keep writing.
