Into the New Year!
January 8, 2025
Happy New Year!
I started this year with eight published books behind me and am working to finish my ninth! Can you believe it?
The ninth story, Bourbon Neat, is progressing nicely and will be a romantic suspense. I hope to have it published by spring.
The challenge story is on the shelf now, as my focus is on Bourbon Neat.
As I've been rereading the Consequential Love Series, I'm seriously considering writing another Garrett and Leigh story. I have a nice chapter about their first May Day together. It was written as part of a challenge and would be perfect as an early chapter for the next story. I'm leaning toward another three-book series.
If you follow me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/RomanceByDeGroot), you'll see posts inspired by a 2025 literary calendar. I used January being Hot Tea Month from the calendar for this month's blog post. Here's the link: https://www.romance-degrootified.net/blog/posts/45665
The AutoCrit platform has a fiction analyzer that I've been running on my Bourbon Neat story after I add chunks of material I've written. It looks at each chapter separately and provides a synopsis, identifies conflict, the characters within it, world-building features, which character's point of view is used, possible contradictions found, a timeline analysis, foreshadowing events, tracking of plot threads, and genre analysis. This information helps me identify issues that need correction and areas where I can expand on details to improve the story.
I can run a character analysis that's useful to improve the effectiveness of my characters in their roles.
An overall analysis focuses on the premise, conflicts, timeline, plot, theme, and genre conformity. I especially enjoy the genre conformity to ensure what I write conveys my intent. Using proper tools helps produce well-written stories for you!
I wish you the best in 2025. Here's to increased romance in our lives. I'm happy to help by writing more romances for you.
Read on!
